sample_remark Johnson et al 2016 paraphrased: "The sample is from the Bunker Creek Formation of the Teltawongee Group, and was sampled from a monotonous package of immature sandstone. The sample contains a high proportion of angular quartz and detrital mica, and to a lesser extent, feldspar and tourmaline. The Bunker Creek Formation is characterised by repetitive sequences of immature sandstone (up to 3 m thick in places) overlain by an upward fining sequence of fine sandstone, siltstone and mudstone (Mills, 1992). In places, the finer-grain lithologies are absent, which results in an amalgamation of coarse-grained sandstone horizons that give the appearance of an extremely thick (~10 m), monotonous package of immature sandstone (Mills, 1992). Zircons from the sample are rounded and have low aspect ratios. Internal grain textures are characterised by faint oscillatory to homogeneous zoning. Heterogeneous textures consisting of patchy sub-domains potentially indicate a complex metamorphic history for some of the grains. The presence of older cores with younger rims also indicates multiple phases of zircon crystallisation."
