sample_remark Drillhole UOD Weribone 1 hole penetrated the Surat Basin and underlying Thomson Orogen to a total depth of 2436.90 metres where it bottomed out in metamorphosed rocks interpreted to be Timbury Hills Formation (Union Oil Development Corporation, 1963). The sample selected for geochronology was collected from the depth interval of 2382.6 to 2383.0 metres and is a grey to green, fine-grained, quartz-rich sandstone, with a well-developed cleavage parallel to the lithological layering. SHRIMP analyses of detrital zircons from this sample of sandstone were aimed at characterising the zircon provenance of sedimentary rocks in this region.
