sample_remark Drill-hole GSQ Bulloo 1 was drilled by the Queensland Department of Mines in 1986 as a stratigraphic hole through the southwestern part of the Eromanga Basin. The total depth of the hole was 631 metres, with the final ~40 metres intersecting basement rocks beneath the Eromanga Basin, consisting of folded, metamorphosed sandstone, with a steep axial planar cleavage and subvertical quartz veins (Murray, 1994). The sample analysed here was collected from the depth interval 612.14 to 621.90 metres and is a fine- to medium-grained sandstone, with lesser siltstone intervals, with a steeply-dipping weak cleavage. This sample was analysed to obtain a detrital zircon age spectrum for comparison with other samples interpreted to represent the Thomson beds.
