sample_remark Drillhole GSQ Thargomindah was drilled by the Queensland Department of Mines as a stratigraphic hole through the south-western part of the Eromanga Basin. The hole was drilled to a depth of 1092 metres, with the final ~36 metres interpreted to represent deformed metasedimentary basement rocks of the Thomson Orogen. The sample analysed here was collected from the depth interval 1071.55 to 1072.35 metres, and consists of fine- to medium-grained quartz sandstone, with a weak bedding-parallel cleavage that dips at ~45 degrees. The sample was analysed to obtain a detrital zircon age spectrum for comparison with similar sedimentary rocks from GSQ Eromanga 1 and GSQ Quilpie 1.
