sample_remark | DIO TARTULLA 1 was drilled by Delhi Petroleum Pty Ltd in 1981 and reached a depth of 2591.7 m before termination. It is located approximately 5 km northeast of Woomanooka Station, in southwestern Queensland. The sample submitted for analysis is a light to medium grey metasiltstone to fine-grained metasandstone locally with dark coloured shale laminations and scattered, round siliceous pebbles. Murray (1994) also noted the presence of pyrite nodules up to 1 cm across. Murray (1994) and Brown et al. (2012) classified the basement metasedimentary rocks from DIO TARTULLA 1 as a part of the Thomson Orogen. This sample was analysed to obtain provenance age information and a maximum age of deposition in order to better understand its stratigraphic context. |
