| sample_remark | Volcanic rock within the Mount Tambo Group, which crops out in the Scrubby Creek/Bindi Syncline. These rocks strike at a high angle to the Limestone Creek Graben. Magmatic crystallisation is expected to be 430-400 Ma (Middle Silurian to Early Devonian) based on ages of nearby volcanic rocks. The sample is from the Old Mill Ignimbrite Member, a component of the Blackfellows Flat Conglomerate which from ASUD is described as: Conglomerate, sandstone, pebbly sandstone, mudstone: clasts well rounded, sandstones with high felsic volcanic component. Formation fines upward. U-Pb zircon age of 416 +/- 5 Ma from Mount Tambo Ignimbrite, which was sampled on the opposite limb of Scrubby Creek syncline, and is at a similar stratigraphic position to present sample. |
