sample_remark Fanning & Webb (1990): The primary mineralogy and texture of sample 7032RS86 have been extensively modified by secondary metamorphism, silicification and alteration. The bulk of the rock is composed of well foliated, fine-grained aggregates, quartz, feldspar and muscovite. These aggregates are of a metamorphic origin, though the crude quartz-feldspar-rich and muscovite-rich bands may reflect pre-metamorphic composition layering. Anhedral to blocky opaques are common and there are rare, scattered medium grained biotite flakes. Secondary quartz veins are prominent, composed of granular aggregates or mosaics and exhibiting ptygmatic folds. Euhedral, often doubly terminated zircon crystals occur as an accessory phase. The grains generally have a simple internal structure, devoid of obvious zonation or inheritance. The zircons are characteristically honey to pale honey coloured, euhedral crystals. They are often doubly terminated or fractured portions of such crystals. Opaque inclusions can be seen and are more common in the more magnetic fractions. There is little evidence of zonation or inherited cores. The grains appear to have formed during igneous crystallisation with little subsequent modification.
