| sample_remark | The metasandstone sample was taken from the downhole interval 51–52.6 m in drillhole 17GRDD001 at the Grapple Prospect; it was selected for geochronology to determine the maximum depositional age of the metasedimentary succession hosting mineralisation at the Grapple prospect. The metasandstone is weakly foliated and is subarkose, containing medium- to coarse-grained, poorly-sorted, sub-angular to sub-rounded quartz and feldspar. The dominant mineral is quartz, with grain size ranging from 20 μm to 1 mm. Feldspar (K-feldspar and plagioclase) comprises 10–20% of the rock and ranges up to 1 mm in size. Micas (biotite and muscovite) constitute ~5 vol% of the rock; trace to minor opaque oxide minerals and zircon are also identified. |
