| sample_remark | Drill-hole AAO Glenroy 1 penetrated the Surat Basin and underlying Thomson Orogen to a total depth of 1197.6 metres where it bottomed out in metamorphosed rocks interpreted to be Timbury Hills Formation (Mines Administration PTY LTD, 1965). The sample selected for geochronology was collected from the depth interval of 1194.97 to 1195.88 metres and is a grey to green, massive, medium-grained quartzite with no obvious bedding. SHRIMP analyses of detrital zircons from this sample were aimed at characterising zircon provenance, for comparison with regional sedimentary rocks from farther west in the Thomson Orogen, and from the Lachlan Orogen. |
