sample_remark | HPP GOLEBURRA 1 was drilled to a depth of 1581.3 m by Hematite Petroleum Pty Ltd in 1972. It is located approximately 44 km east of Winton, central Queensland and ~1.4 km north-northeast of Colane No. 2 Bore adjacent to Scarlet Creek. The sample analysed is a fine grained quartzite. Murray (1994) describe it as is a metamorphosed quartzofeldspathic sandstone with larger clasts of quartz and feldspar (up to 0.5 mm) as well as smaller clasts and matrix that have been recrystallised to a mosaic of quartz, plagioclase, muscovite, green biotite, calcite and chlorite (Murray, 1994). Basement core in HPP GOLEBURRA 1 has been assigned as Thomson Orogen by Brown et al. (2012) and is overlain by sediments of the mid Carboniferous-Middle Triassic Galilee Basin, and Jurassic to Cretaceous Eromanga Basin. |
