sample_remark DIO BETOOTA 1 was drilled to a depth of 2994.4 m by Delhi Petroleum Pty Ltd in 1959. It is located in central western Queensland approximately 9 km east-southeast of Betoota and is near a present day artesian bore. The sample submitted for analysis is a red, medium- to coarse-grained lithic sandstone. Basement rocks in DIO BETOOTA 1 were assigned by Brown et al. (2012) to the Thomson Orogen package and/or the suggested time equivalent, Warburton Basin. They are overlain by sedimentary rocks of the early Permian- Middle Triassic Cooper Basin and Jurassic to Cretaceous Eromanga Basin (Brown et al., 2012). This sample was submitted for SHRIMP U-Pb analysis to obtain zircon provenance age information and a maximum deposition age.
