sample_remark AAO BERYL 1 was drilled to a depth of 1266.1 m by Associated Australian Oilfields NL in 1964. It is located approximately 65 km northwest of Muttaburra, central Queensland and 5 km southwest of Beryl Farm. The sample submitted for SHRIMP U-Pb detrital zircon geochronology is a fine-grained, grey quartz sandstone (Murray, 1994). Basement rocks in AAO BERYL 1 were assigned by Brown et al. (2012) as belonging to the Thomson Orogen package and/or the suggested time equivalent, Warburton Basin. These rocks are overlain by sedimentary rocks of the mid Carboniferous-Middle Triassic Galilee Basin, and Jurassic to Cretaceous Eromanga Basin. The aim of this study was to obtain provenance age information and a maximum age of deposition for this sample.
