stratigraphic_unit Gobondery Granite
geological_province Lachlan Orogen
sample_remark Large blocks of granite on Rosedale Lane at the mapped contact between the Gobondery Granite (Duwv) and Raggatt Volcanics. The granite is as described in the current attribution published via the Seamless: Pink, fine- to medium-grained fluorite-bearing granite. The Gobondery Granite has intruded along the crustal boundary between the Girilambone Group and the E Lachlan Orogen, being bound on the W side by the Steeton Fault (part of the Tullamore fault system). It is not clear if the granite intruded into the fault, or is part of the eastern Lachlan Orogen block now faulted against the Girilambone Group. A U-Pb age will be essential if this granite is utilised for thermochronology modelling in the future.
