sample_remark Ore sample. Laminated siltstone and sandstone. Beds are well-graded and there are heavy mineral-rich laminations within sandstone beds that contain zircon, rutile, apatite and hydrothermal titanite. The sandstone bed bases have approximately 50/50 quartz/mica. Interestingly, sandstone beds contain abundant detrital biotite (10-15%). Hydrothermal titanite is abundant and appears to be replacing ilmenite. Siltstone horizons contain much less biotite and are white mica-rich, with abundant fine grained titanite throughout.
