| sample_remark | Zamu Dolerite (WEST, IAT/WPB). Equigranular and "equimodal" (this might mean 50-50 pyroxene-plagioclase), finer-grained than most exposures, mm-scale grainsize. GA SampleNo 1463487 (SampleID 88126026; IGSN 10273/AU1463487), described as Zamu Dolerite, has an interpreted U-Pb SHRIMP zircon age of 1870 +/- 6 Ma, based on 13 of 33 analyses (published via OZCHRON in 1996). The Zamu Dolerite intrudes the Koolpin Formation (published age ca 1.86 Ga, however this is not confident), in close proximity to outcrops of Cullen Supersuite (published ages 1.86-1.80 Ga, however again this is a subject of study). Apparently there are ca 1.81-1.80 Ga granites near this Zamu Dolerite outcrop. The granites are undeformed, whereas the Zamu Dolerite is folded. |
