sample_remark | Philips et al 2011 paraphrased " The samples orgin rock is fine-grained appearance that is consistent with rapid crystallisation. Plagioclase, minor K-feldspar and quartz are the dominant felsic mineral phases, whereas biotite, hornblende and augite (often replaced by actinolite) comprise the mafic phases. Accessory titanite, apatite and magnetite are also common (Hensel et al., 1985). Morphologically, zircons from the Barrington Tops Granodiorite are elongate, have pointed to blunt terminations and range in length between 100 and 200 um. Faint sector zoning and thin bright rims reflecting an enrichment in U, Th and REE." |
