The groundmass has fine, slender, felted plagioclase laths and small irregular areas of chalcedony. Uppermost part with foliated, contorted and broken folds. Foliation in the folds varies from fine to coarse (up to 4 mm thick), the bands being delineated by accumulations of thin or globular pumice fragments or accumulations of opaque minerals overlain by fibrous crystals of zeolite and chlorite." |
