sample_remark Johnson et al 2016 paraphrased: "The sample was taken from the (basal) Williams Creek Conglomerate of the Kayrunnera Group. The conglomerate is poorly sorted and polymict, comprising of angular to sub-rounded pebbles of pelite, psammite and granitic material, along with poorly sorted, sub-angular to rounded granules of quartz. A strong foliation defined by an alignment of white mica is also present. The dominance of quartz and the minor fractions of feldspar in samples KB22a, KB21 and KB23 from the Kayrunnera Group indicate that the contributing sediments were probably derived from a cratonic source. Detrital zircon grains from sample KB22a are generally well rounded and exhibit oscillatory zoning."
