sample_remark | Johnson et al 2016 paraphrased: "Samples KB12 and KB14 are from the Wonnaminta Formation of the Teltawongee Group and were collected in close proximity to a faulted contact with the older Kara Formation. The samples dominantly consist of angular to subangular quartz with moderate proportions of detrital white mica, minor K-feldspar and plagioclase. The Wonnaminta Formation is characterised by repetitive sequences of immature sandstone (up to 3m thick in places) overlain by an upward fining sequence of fine sandstone, siltstone and mudstone (Mills, 1992). In places, the finer-grain lithologies are absent, which results in an amalgamation of coarse-grained sandstone horizons that give the appearance of an extremely thick (~10 m), monotonous package of immature sandstone (Mills, 1992). Grains of detrital zircon from samples KB12 and KB14 are invariably rounded, and contain internal grain morphologies that range from faint oscillatory zoning to homogeneous textures with sector zoning." |
