| sample_remark | Intrusion deformed by the sheared boundary between Omeo and Tabberabbera Zones. Pre-dates deformation and places a maximum age on this event. Magmatic crystallisation is expected to be 420-400 Ma (Early to Late Devonian). Nearby Doctors Flat Tonalite has an age of 409 Ma (R. Maas, unpublished). Both rocks are foliated, occur in similar orientations and have similar magnetic properties. Age of Rileys Creek intrusion is thus likely to be also c. 410 Ma. FROM ASUD: Grey to dark grey, medium-coarse grained biotite-hornblende granodiorite to quartz diorite; I-type; inhomogeneous, strongly foliated, with abundant stretched mafic igneous enclaves; moderately to highly magnetic. |
