| sample_remark | Coherent felsic volcanic rock with intact embayed quartz phenocrysts and strongly altered plagioclase and K-feldspar phenocrysts. Fine, discontinuous laminae in ultrafine groundmass are probably flattened pumice or flow banding. These are consistently oriented throughout sample, which suggests that the rock is probably a coherent lava or ignimbrite, rather than a volcaniclastic rock. No obvious relict biotite grains, but apatite and zircon are common accessory phases. |
