sample_remark The sample (4 kg, representing 2 m of core downhole) is from a quartz-feldspar porphyry dyke cutting Silurian (435-425 Ma) Nundah Granodiorite. Based on geological relationships and texture, the dyke is assumed to be Carboniferous. Similar dykes have been mapped and identified in boreholes throughout the region but none have been dated. The dyke is likely to be pervasively altered and mineralised (Au+-Mo). Au and Mo mineralisation is thought to be genetically related to Carboniferous hypabyssal felsic magmatism - possibly of the same age (broadly) as the sampled dyke.
