(2003): Veins with large (up to 60 cm long), often euhedral, crystals of diopside, with or without titanite (euhedral, up to 20 cm diameter), are found in a creek section in one of the Mesoproterozoic A-type granites in the basement. The veins are up to 1.5 m wide and some can be followed along strike from the bottom of the creek to the top of the western ridge (170 m), where they are cut off by a fault. The crystals appear to have grown into open space. There is no evidence that any of the veins have been folded. Most of the original diopside has been retrogressed to actinolite. Later minerals in the veins are calcite, quartz and hematite. The latter two minerals often overgrow the diopside and titanite. Sample ME00DI2 consists of loose crystals of diopside, titanite and calcite that were pried out of a smaller (3 cm thick) vein.",
