"sample_remark":"Drillhole NDILLK10 samples a NE-trending package of mostly non-magnetic sedimentary rocks. There are some moderately magnetic rocks within this package, however these have not been intersected in drill-core. Hole NDILLK10 was drilled using the coiled-tube rotary drill-rig to a total depth of 404.05 m, which included one tray of diamond core basement intersection. The lithologies present are a grey micaceous siltstone and a medium-grained siliciclastic rock. The rocks are mostly massive, with a very minor interval of interbedded fine-grained siltstone and mudstone. There is a gradual transition from graded, fine-grained bedding to more massive, coarser-grained sandstone towards the bottom of the sampled interval. The sandstone features angular grains and wispy, elongate blebs, which appear to be shale fragments (see below). The lower interval is less fractured, potentially due to slightly less quartz-carbonate veining, which in general is uncommon. There is a weak foliation at low angle to the steeply-dipping bedding. The lower interval of more coarse-grained, massive, less fractured sandstone was sampled for geochronology. In thin section, sample 9652080/2023330040 is a medium- to coarse-grained litharenite. Overall, the sandstone comprises angular, sub-rounded to tabular framework grains between 0.3-1.5 mm. Shale to siltstone metasedimentary lithic clasts dominate and are typically much coarser (up to 30 mm), tabular to elliptical in form and aligned, defining a weak imbrication. Typical mineralogy is approximated as 40% quartz, 20% lithics, 20% feldspar, 10% matrix. Quartz is the most abundant framework grain occurring as 0.3-1.5 mm grains that typically have a low sphericity and are angular to subrounded. Some grains are polycrystalline, but most are optically clear, single grains with undulose extinction. Feldspar grains are typically tabular and comprise both plagioclase and K-feldspar with a similar size distribution to quartz. Plagioclase is albite and K-feldspar is variable from microcline to perthite. Other, less common framework grains include slender, often kinked detrital white mica and garnet. Garnet grains are typically <0.5 mm, elliptical, moderately- to well-rounded and most grains are partially replaced by green chlorite. Accessory phases include zircon, apatite, tourmaline, and variably hematite-replaced magnetite. The sandstone matrix comprises sericitic white mica and pale green chlorite. Lithic fragments are variable in size (0.5-30 mm) and typically tabular in shape. Most lithic grains are micaceous shale and siltstone with lesser very fine-grained sandstone. There are three quartz-feldspar granophyre lithics and a single cherty lithic. The sandstone is crosscut by a number of narrow calcite veins. The textural and in-part chemically immature nature of the sandstone, combined with likely S-type granitic detritus (e.g. garnet; there is little evidence beyond a few microcline grains of a high-grade metamorphic source) and shale, mudstone and very fine-grained anaclastic lithics suggest the sandstone was derived from an S-type granite dominant source terrane, with syn-depositional incorporation of shale to siltstone intraclasts.",
