It comprises pale grey to buff coloured sandy dolostone with weak solution weathering. It is weakly laminated and has poorly preserved cross beds in some horizons. Bedding varies ca. 8-15 cm in thickness. At the sample location, the Tempe Formation sits unconformably on poorly exposed Neoproterozoic sedimentary rocks (Loves Creek Formation, Bitter Springs Group); it is overlain in a structural conformity (but with a depositional disconformity) by the Illara Sandstone.",
