        "sample_remark":"The unit sampled is a pink-red and green layered feldspar-rich fine to very fine ash-fall tuff within a thick felsic unit, sampled at depth 663.00-663.28 m in drillhole GSQ Westmoreland 2. Darby (1985; https://geoscience.data.qld.gov.au/report/cr013818) described this ash-fall tuff as having well developed planar bedding, defined by rectangular K-feldspar phenocrysts occurring in the same plane, parallel to their long dimensions, and other parallel variations in composition. The largest grains are about 2 mm, and consist of K-feldspar and plagioclase in a ratio of 1:2 respectively. They occur as euhedral crystals, often with their edges broken off. The groundmass consists of spherulitic intergrowths of quartz and plagioclase. Each spherulite has a coarse centre and much finer perimeter. Minor opaque minerals and aggregates of sericite also occur. This unit was targeted for SHRIMP zircon analysis to determine whether it is part of the c. 1850 Ma Cliffdale Volcanics (within the NE extension of the Murphy Inlier into Queensland), or part of a younger unit such as the c. 1725 Ma Peters Creek Volcanics of the lower McArthur Basin.",
