"sample_remark":"This unnamed granite occurs on Roopena Station, ~ 40 km W of Port Augusta, on northern Eyre Peninsula. Although no contacts are observed the unnamed granite is inferred to intrude the Broadview Schist which crops out in close proximity to the granite. In this locality the Broadview Schist consists of a fine-grained finely-laminated light to dark grey to pink-brown meta-sandstone composed of recrystallised quartz and lesser mica. The granite and surrounding Broadview Schist appear to lie within a magnetic-low of undeformed rock wrapped on either side by a magnetic-high mylonite. Sample 2017712 is a pink medium-grained equigranular granite composed of feldspar, quartz, biotite and tourmaline and is weakly foliated. One km to the south of the sample location an outcrop of gneissic granite occurs within the Roopena Shear Zone. This granite gneiss is similar in composition to sample 2017712, a moderate to orange-pink medium-grained granite composed of quartz, feldspar and biotite, with a gneissic fabric defined by quartz ribbons, and may be part of the same intrusion. The composition of this granite is dominated by potassium feldspar and quartz, with only minor plagioclase and biotite and trace tourmaline, opaques and zircon. The texture of the granite under the microscope is weakly gneissic, with layering defined by alternating feldspar and granoblastic quartz. Potassium feldspar crystals range in size from 50 to 350 micron, commonly exhibit tartan cross hatching, and are weakly sericitised. Plagioclase crystals are typically 50 to 100 micron and exhibit simple twinning. Opaques and tourmaline occur intergranular to feldspar and quartz.",
